Two ultimate road cycling mountain challenges:

Tourmalet Ultra Bike Pursuit

Hautacam Ultra Bike Pursuit

Ready for a rollercoaster of emotion, challenge, and adventure?

When a cycling guide, tour operator, and ultra bikepacking racer native to the French Pyrenees designs a Pyrenees ultra bikepacking challenge, you know it will combine intimate native knowledge with the fine attention to detail only a local expert can provide. When that same cycling guide is also a world explorer and an award-winning adventure travel author featured in travel and adventure magazines across three continents, you know you’re destined for an incredible adventure.

    Tourmalet Ultra Bike Pursuit

Location: Central & Eastern Pyrenees (France, Spain & Andorra)

    Ultra Bike Pursuit - Tourmalet: 1,420 km / 26,562m

Two figures that say it all: the Tourmalet Pursuit includes a staggering number of climbs over a proportionally short distance. You’ll climb mountain after mountain--but not just any mountains. This challenge is comprised of some of the world’s best climbs featured in the Tour de France. You'll discover the best of the Eastern half of the Pyrenees mountain chain as you experience iconic climbs in France, Spain and Andorra.

    Short-Loop Option: 1,141 km / 18,686m

There is also a short-loop option which yields 18,686m of elevation over 1,141 km. It still includes many of the superb mountain climbs that are part of the main route and offers an excellent, yet more human challenge. You can opt for the small-loop option from the start, or attempt the full loop and if needed, skip authorized sections during your ride.

Could you imagine any challenge matching this?

In creating the Hautacam Pursuit, Jean-Philippe designed the perfect counterpart: a Western Pyrenees ride that proves to be equally spectacular and challenging.

    Hautacam Ultra Bike Pursuit

Location: Central & Western Pyrenees (France & Spain)

    Ultra Bike Pursuit - Hautacam: 1,333 km / 28,657m

Don’t be fooled by the shorter distance, the Hautacam Pursuit boasts even more elevation gain as you crisscross the border between France and Spain. As you experience the unique Basque Country region, you’ll not only ride some of the most famous climbs of the Tour de France and Vuelta, you’ll also discover off-the-beaten-path routes that will enchant you (if they don’t destroy your legs and spirit first).

    Short-Loop Option: 1,002 km / 17,805m

There is also a short-loop option which yields 17,805m of elevation over 1,002 km. It still includes many of the superb mountain climbs that are part of the main route and offers an excellent, yet more human challenge. You can opt for the small-loop option from the start, or attempt the full loop and if needed, skip authorized sections during your ride.
